On August 27th, 2024 – Raila Odinga officially announced his exit from local politics to concentrate on a broader continental role. The announcement was made during a preparatory meeting for the launch of his campaign for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
Speaking at the event, Odinga reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the African dream, emphasizing his dedication to fostering prosperity, peace, unity, and stability across the continent. “My commitment to the African dream of prosperity, peace, unity, and stability for all is intact,” Odinga stated.
The meeting was hosted by Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia W Mudavadi, who extended his support to Odinga’s team as they prepare for the upcoming AUC campaign. Odinga expressed his gratitude to Mudavadi, acknowledging the importance of unity and cooperation in achieving Africa’s goals.
