Residents of Mwingi Central have intensified their calls for Mr. John Makau, the current Chief Officer for Finance and Revenue Management, to vie for the parliamentary seat in 2027. They believe his leadership and integrity are key to steering the constituency out of what they term as “political thuggery and instability.”
Makau, a close ally of Wiper leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, has not yet publicly declared his interest in the position. However, locals are adamant that his experience and strong ties with the Wiper Party make him the ideal candidate to bring much-needed transformation to the constituency.
“We need a leader who can restore accountability and stability. John Makau has proven himself as a dedicated and effective public servant,” said a resident during a community meeting.
Another resident emphasized Makau’s track record in financial management, stating, “His work in revenue management speaks volumes about his capability. He is the right person to represent us in Parliament.”

The calls come amid growing dissatisfaction with the current political climate in Mwingi Central. Many residents feel their constituency has been plagued by ineffective leadership and are rallying behind Makau as a beacon of hope.
Although Makau remains silent on his political ambitions, the push from residents is seen as a significant indicator of his popularity. Analysts speculate that should he decide to contest, he would be a strong contender under the Wiper Party banner.
The 2027 general elections are shaping up to be a critical turning point for Mwingi Central, with residents eagerly awaiting Makau’s decision.
