President William Ruto has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fostering regional integration through sports. Speaking during the official launch of the 20,000-seater Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya County, the President highlighted the role of multinational sports competitions in enhancing cross-border harmony, talent exchange, and regional unity.
The event culminated in a thrilling football match between Kenya’s Gor Mahia and Uganda’s Kitara Football Club, with Gor Mahia emerging victorious. The match marked the conclusion of the Piny Luo Cultural Festival celebrations.
President Ruto was joined by Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, African Union Commission Chairperson candidate Raila Odinga, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Kitui Governor Kyalo Muli, among others.Gor Mahia’s victory was widely celebrated, further cementing their status as regional champions.
