Kitui politician Stephen Kilonzo has endorsed the upcoming Lower Eastern Strategy Meeting scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, at Maanzoni Lodge, Machakos, starting from 3:00 PM. The meeting aims to unite senior professionals, clergy, politicians, and other regional opinion leaders to deliberate on key developmental priorities for Ukambani in 2025.
Speaking to the TCD Digital Editor, Kilonzo, who is one of the event planners, outlined key agenda items, including:
Completion of the Umaa Earth Dam,
Completion of the 17-kilometer Bondoni Road, and
Construction of the Enziu Bridge, a critical infrastructure project.
Kilonzo emphasized the region’s collaboration with government appointees, stating that they are working closely with government representatives in Ukambani to ensure these projects are prioritized.
The meeting has been convened by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua Nganga and is expected to set the stage for regional development discussions under the banner of KOMA strategies: KOMA 1, KOMA 2, and KOMA 3. These strategies will include planning for a future delegation from Ukambani to meet with President William Ruto to push for substantial investments and real progress in the region.
Kilonzo called for unity in Kitui County, urging residents and leaders to rally behind the current government to maximize development opportunities. He reiterated the importance of collective action to ensure Kitui remains a strong and united force for progress.
The Lower Eastern Strategy Meeting is expected to chart a path for transformative development, fostering collaboration among stakeholders to address critical infrastructure needs and uplift the region’s socioeconomic standards.
