The Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2024, officially underwent its first reading in the County Assembly today. The Bill seeks to authorize the allocation of funds from the County Revenue Fund to finance public services and programs for the financial year ending June 30, 2025.
To expedite its approval, the County Assembly earlier adopted a motion to reduce the publication period for the Bill, designated as County Assembly Bill No. 5 of 2024. The publication period was reduced from seven days to six in accordance with Standing Order No. 116.
The motion to fast-track the Bill was moved by Hon. Jacquelyne Cate Kalenga, Vice Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, and seconded by Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Tharaka and Deputy Majority Party Whip.
