Kalonzo Musyoka Condemns Government Over Alleged Intimidation, Vows to Present Gachagua to DCI

Date:

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sharply criticized President William Ruto’s administration over what he describes as a wave of intimidation and illegal actions targeting opposition leaders.

In a statement shared on his official social media platforms, Kalonzo accused the government of orchestrating abductions of political figures, singling out the alleged targeting of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He described the actions as “primitive and cowardly,” calling on the President to uphold the rule of law.

“This intimidation of the Opposition must stop,” Kalonzo wrote. “Mr Ruto, if you want to arrest former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, do it the right way; follow the law.”

The Wiper leader, a prominent figure within the Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition, expressed readiness to personally ensure Gachagua presents himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), if due process is observed.

“We are prepared to produce DP Gachagua before the DCI. Please stop abducting Kenyans and their leaders. Abductions are primitive and cowardly,” he added.

Kalonzo’s remarks come amid growing speculation of a widening rift within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and rising fears of political persecution. There has been no official communication from the state regarding a warrant of arrest or investigations against Gachagua.

His statement has stirred debate across the political spectrum, with opposition figures rallying behind his call for constitutionalism and government accountability. Meanwhile, the government is yet to respond publicly to the allegations.

Political analysts suggest the standoff could deepen tensions as the country inches closer to the 2027 general elections, with realignments already taking shape within both the ruling coalition and the opposition.
