Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba Officially Removed Following UDA Expulsion

Date:

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has lost her seat in the Senate following her expulsion from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi today declared the seat vacant through a gazette notice, citing Article 101(2) of the Constitution of Kenya. The move follows a resolution by the UDA’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which unanimously endorsed Orwoba’s expulsion on May 19, 2025.

According to the party, Orwoba was expelled for gross misconduct and violations of the UDA constitution and code of conduct. Among the allegations were making public remarks deemed damaging to the party’s reputation and repeatedly ignoring disciplinary summons.

With her seat now officially declared vacant, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to begin the process of filling the position.
