Senate Education Committee Tours Kitui to Assess ECDE and TVET Progress

Date:

The Senate Standing Committee on Education, chaired by Senator Betty Montet, is currently on an official visit to Kitui County to assess the progress of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.

The tour is aimed at evaluating the achievements and challenges within the devolved education sector in the county, with a special focus on infrastructure development, quality of learning, and access to early and technical education.

During a consultative session held earlier today at the Governor’s boardroom, the senators commended the county government for its notable strides in enhancing educational facilities. They urged local authorities to sustain efforts toward creating a more conducive learning environment for ECDE learners.

The committee emphasized that their findings will inform key policy directions geared towards improving educational outcomes not only in Kitui but across the country.

As part of their itinerary, the senators are scheduled to visit several ECDE centers today to observe firsthand the state of facilities and ongoing initiatives.

Among the senators present were Agnes Kavindu, Catherine Mumma, John Kinyua, Kamau James Murango, and Prof. Margaret Kamar, who serves as the committee’s Vice Chairperson.

Their visit underscores the Senate’s commitment to strengthening the foundation of education and ensuring that every child has access to quality learning opportunities from an early age.
