Former Kitui Senator David Musila has been appointed the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board for a three-year term.
The appointment was made by the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Alfred Mutua, through Gazette Notice No. 11238, issued under Section 4(1)(a) of the Industrial Training Act (Cap. 237).
According to the Gazette Notice dated 24th July 2026, Musila’s appointment takes effect from 24th July 2026 and will run for a period of three years.
The National Industrial Training Board is responsible for promoting and coordinating industrial training in Kenya, with the aim of enhancing workforce skills and supporting the country’s industrial and economic development.
The appointment places Musila at the helm of a key national institution tasked with advising the government on industrial training policies, strengthening technical skills development, and fostering collaboration between training institutions and industry players to address labour market needs.
Musila, a seasoned public servant, has previously served in various senior leadership positions, including as Senator for Kitui County, assistant Minister for Defence and other various positions in the government , his extensive experience in public administration is expected to bolster the board’s mandate of enhancing skills development and workforce competitiveness.
Leaders and residents from Kitui County have congratulated Musila on the appointment, describing it as a recognition of his vast leadership experience and commitment to public service. They expressed optimism that his stewardship will contribute to advancing industrial training and expanding employment opportunities for Kenyan youth.
