Kitui County Assembly Speaker and Kitui Senator hopeful Hon. Kevin Kinengo on Friday joined residents for empowerment and public engagement forums held in Matinyani and Kiusyani, where leaders called for unity and support for the national government’s development agenda.
Kinengo was accompanied by Matinyani MCA Hon. Sylvester Kitheka, Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga MCA Hon. Paul Maluki, Nominated MCA Hon. Deborah Mutuku and Nominated MCA Hon. Priscilla Makumi, alongside other local leaders. The delegation joined Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, and Commissioner Muasya at Kwa Mukoma Grounds in Matinyani Ward, Kitui West Constituency.
The empowerment programme brought together hundreds of residents who were encouraged to take advantage of government development initiatives and economic empowerment programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for local communities.
Addressing the gathering, Kinengo urged residents to continue supporting the government, saying it belongs to all Kenyans regardless of political affiliation.
He emphasized that the Constitution recognizes the government elected by the people and called on leaders and citizens to focus on development rather than political divisions.
The Speaker noted that unity among leaders is essential in accelerating development projects across Kitui County. He said leaders have a responsibility to work together in ensuring that government programmes reach every village and benefit all residents.
Kinengo further pledged that leaders from the county would continue providing leadership from the front by championing policies and initiatives that promote economic growth, improved infrastructure and better public services. He said collective leadership would help deliver tangible and measurable progress for the people of Kitui.
The forum also featured messages from other leaders, who reiterated the importance of embracing development-focused leadership and maintaining close engagement with wananchi. They encouraged residents to remain united and actively participate in programmes designed to uplift communities across Kitui County.
