On 17th June, 2026 – Kitui County Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani was among the high-level delegation attending Kenya’s inaugural National Productivity and Performance Conference at the Kenya School of Government, Nairobi.*_
The three-day conference is themed: “Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery.”
Under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, Kitui County is re-engineering its productivity and performance management systems to enhance objectivity, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery, thereby accelerating the county’s transformation agenda.
Kitui is the first county in Kenya to mainstream productivity. The landmark conference provides a platform for strategic dialogue and collaboration, bringing together government leaders, private sector stakeholders, development partners, academia, and policy experts to explore practical reforms that strengthen service delivery, enhance revenue mobilisation, and promote public-private partnerships for sustainable economic growth.
The county has made significant progress in implementing the productivity agenda. However, challenges remain, particularly in integrating productivity metrics, recognising outstanding performance, and linking remuneration to measurable outcomes.
These gaps have slowed the translation of institutional performance into greater efficiency, value for money, improved citizen outcomes, and economic growth.
