Yatta/Kwa Vonza MCA Mark Nding’o Commissions Nthongoni Borehole Pipeline Extension Project

Yatta/Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o on Thursday joined Kitui County Ministry of Water Director Mr. Mutati and the WHH team to commission the Nthongoni Borehole Pipeline Extension Project at Nthongoni Village, marking a major milestone in improving access to clean and safe water for local residents.

The project, funded by WHH through Charity Water in partnership with the Kitui County Government, included the extension of a 7-kilometre water pipeline, construction of four water kiosks, solarization of the water system, installation of a 100-square-metre masonry water tank, and the construction of two VIP toilets with water tanks for schools.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Nding’o lauded the partnership between the County Government and development partners for investing in projects that directly improve the lives of residents. He noted that the enhanced water infrastructure will ease the burden of searching for water, improve sanitation in schools, and support sustainable socio-economic development in Nthongoni Village and the surrounding areas.

Residents welcomed the project, saying it will significantly reduce the distance travelled in search of water while providing a reliable and sustainable source of clean water for households, schools, and the wider community. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the County Government and its partners to expand water access across Kitui County.
