Governor Nicholas Mulila Pledges Merit-Based Employment

Governor hopeful CPA Nicholas Mulila has reiterated his commitment to creating a transparent and merit-based public service, saying employment opportunities should be awarded based on qualifications, competence and hard work rather than political loyalty or corruption.

Mulila said he has already demonstrated his leadership by creating employment opportunities for more than 200 people across Kitui County without demanding political allegiance or personal favours. He maintained that opportunities should be accessible to all deserving residents regardless of their political affiliations.

The gubernatorial aspirant pledged that, if elected in the 2027 General Election, his administration will be very open.

According to Mulila, every qualified citizen should have an equal opportunity to compete for jobs through a transparent recruitment process where merit, competence and integrity are the guiding principles.

He said his vision for Kitui is anchored on ethical leadership, accountability and expanding opportunities for all residents, adding that public service should be driven by excellence rather than privilege or personal connections.

Mulila’s remarks form part of his ongoing campaign message ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race, where he has continued to advocate for reforms aimed at improving governance, restoring public trust and promoting equal opportunities across Kitui County.
