Kitui East MP aspirant Henry Nyamai has called on political leaders in the constituency to exercise political maturity, tolerance and restraint as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
Nyamai said the people of Kitui East are looking for alternative leadership focused on development, unity and service, rather than the political confrontations and tensions witnessed in recent days.
His remarks come amid reported political tensions and confrontations involving supporters of two aspirants in the constituency, raising concerns over the need for leaders and their supporters to embrace peaceful political engagement.
Nyamai, who has positioned himself as an alternative leadership option in Kitui East, urged political players to focus on winning the confidence of voters through ideas and positive leadership instead of mobilising goons or fuelling political divisions.
“Let us focus on showing alternative leadership instead of breeding goons. The people of Kitui East deserve leaders who can provide solutions, unite the community and promote development,” Nyamai said.
He further appealed to political leaders and their supporters to respect one another and allow residents to make their choices freely without intimidation, insisting that political competition should never be allowed to threaten peace and cohesion in the constituency.
