Opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka received a major political boost in Kajiado County after residents, led by hundreds of young people in Imaroro Ward, publicly endorsed his 2027 presidential bid. The rally saw enthusiastic crowds chanting slogans in support of his “Wantam” campaign as leaders called for a change in the country’s leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Kalonzo praised the youth of Kajiado for what he described as their courage and political awareness, saying Kenya’s young people have repeatedly demonstrated that they understand the kind of nation they want to build. He said the country’s future rests in the hands of a generation that cannot be manipulated or intimidated.
The Wiper leader told supporters that the youth had sent a clear message that “hawatapangwa,” insisting they know the leaders they want to elect and will make independent decisions during the 2027 General Election. He urged young Kenyans across the country to remain united in safeguarding democracy and constitutional governance.
Kalonzo commended the organisers of the event, led by youth leader Ezekiel Saitabau, for mobilising young people to actively participate in national politics. He described the gathering as evidence of growing political consciousness among Kenya’s younger generation and encouraged them to continue engaging peacefully in democratic processes.
He assured Kajiado residents that the Wiper Patriotic Front would field candidates across all its political strongholds, including Kajiado County, as the party strengthens its grassroots structures ahead of the next General Election. According to Kalonzo, the party is determined to expand its national footprint while working closely with local leaders.
The opposition chief further said the Wiper Patriotic Front would continue collaborating with its partners under the United Alternative Government and the Linda Mwananchi coalition to build consensus around the strongest candidates capable of unseating the Kenya Kwanza administration in 2027.
Kalonzo maintained that unity among opposition parties remains the key strategy for achieving political change, saying consultations and consensus-building would continue across the country as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
The rally attracted several senior leaders who declared their support for the opposition agenda, including Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, MPs Robert Mbui, Joyce Kamene, Musili Mawathe, Joshua Kimilu and Thaddeus Nzambia, Senators Daniel Maanzo and Agnes Kavindu, Makueni County Assembly Speaker Douglas Mbilu, advocate Ndegwa Njiru, and Wiper Patriotic Front Elections Board Chairperson Agatha Solitei.
Leaders who addressed the meeting urged residents to remain united and actively participate in voter registration and civic engagement, arguing that a high voter turnout would be critical in determining the country’s leadership in the next General Election.
The Kajiado meeting is expected to further energise Kalonzo Musyoka’s nationwide political tours as he continues seeking support across different regions under the “Wantam” campaign, with opposition leaders expressing confidence that the movement is steadily gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
