Kitui Rural parliamentary hopeful Hon. John Kisangau Mbaki has intensified his youth empowerment campaign after meeting 16 football club captains from across Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward at Kiusyani. The meeting, attended by the teams’ coordinator Joel Muia, focused on promoting sports as a tool for community development and youth transformation.
Addressing the football leaders, Mbaki challenged young people to actively participate in constructive activities that build their talents, strengthen discipline and create opportunities for a brighter future. He urged the youth to reject drug and alcohol abuse, saying substance abuse continues to derail the dreams of many promising young people.
As part of the initiative, Mbaki and the football representatives organized a Back-to-School Tournament scheduled for Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2026. The tournament is expected to bring together teams from across Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward while encouraging students to prepare for the new school term.
Mbaki noted that sports remain one of the most effective platforms for nurturing talent, promoting unity and keeping young people engaged in positive activities. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth-focused initiatives that create opportunities for education, leadership and personal growth across Kitui Rural Constituency.
He emphasized that investing in young people is an investment in the future of the constituency, expressing confidence that continued support for sports and education will help build a more productive, united and prosperous community. The leaders present welcomed the initiative and pledged to mobilize more youths to participate in the tournament.
