Kitui Rural MP hopeful John Kisangau Mbaki on Sunday evening joined Gen Zs and football enthusiasts for the finals of the Mbaki Mbaki Back-to-School Tournament held at St. Luke’s Playground in Kiusyani.

The tournament brought together 16 teams in a spirited competition aimed at promoting youth talent, sportsmanship and community engagement during the school holiday.

Blue Ice FC emerged champions after a strong performance throughout the tournament. The team, led by captain Ben Mukai, was congratulated for their victory, while MK Elites finished second.

Mbaki commended all the 16 participating teams for their commitment, talent and sportsmanship, noting that every team played an important role in making the tournament a success.

He also praised tournament coordinator Joel Muia for his dedication to nurturing young people through sports, describing him as an asset, role model and a true son of the soil.

The MP hopeful further appreciated the energetic cheering squad and the residents of Kiusyani for their overwhelming support throughout the tournament.

Mbaki said the initiative reflects his commitment to empowering young people and creating opportunities where talent can be identified, nurtured and transformed into meaningful opportunities.

The event also provided an opportunity for Mbaki to strengthen his grassroots engagement as he seeks to capture the Kitui Rural parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
