Muasya Highlights Kenya’s Improving Economic Outlook as Shilling Stabilises

Kenya’s economic outlook is showing signs of improved stability, with Commissioner Ben Muasya pointing to stronger foreign exchange reserves and a more stable Kenyan Shilling as indicators of recovery. Muasya, who is also a parliamentary aspirant for Kitui West in the 2027 elections, made the remarks while speaking on the Iko Nini podcast.

According to Muasya, Kenya’s foreign exchange reserves have risen to approximately US$15 billion, providing the country with about 6.4 months of import cover. He said the development represents a significant improvement compared with the economic pressures experienced in early 2023.

The Commissioner noted that stronger reserves provide the country with greater capacity to manage external financial pressures and support stability in the foreign exchange market. The improved position also offers increased confidence as Kenya continues efforts to strengthen its economy.

Muasya said the more stable Shilling, coupled with stronger financial indicators, points to an economy gradually recovering from recent challenges. He emphasized the importance of maintaining sound economic policies and strengthening the country’s financial position to sustain the gains.

His remarks come as Muasya continues to position himself as a candidate for the Kitui West parliamentary seat in 2027, where he has been championing what he describes as leadership focused on development and economic empowerment.
