Ethanga community leaders have called for greater unity and stronger cooperation among the Kamba community and Kenyans at large, saying collective efforts are needed to address challenges affecting communities and create opportunities for development.
The call was made during an education support initiative for children of Ethanga community members from disadvantaged families, held at Toma in Kyangwithya West Ward, Kitui Central Sub-County, Kitui County.
Speaking during the event, Senior Patron of the Ethanga Community in Kenya and Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Kyule Muli, who also serves as a leader within the GDDP, stressed the importance of communities coming together and finding practical ways of addressing challenges such as education.
Muli said supporting education for children from less privileged families was an important step towards improving their future, while also encouraging members of the Ethanga community to remain united and support one another regardless of where they live.
“Community unity is very important. When we come together, we can discuss and find solutions to challenges affecting our people,” Muli said.
The sentiments were echoed by Kyangwithya West MCA and Kitui County Assembly Deputy Speaker Christopher Nzioka Nzilu, who emphasised the importance of community members supporting one another and maintaining unity.
Nzilu urged members of the Ethanga community across Kenya to remain focused on cooperation, saying unity would help strengthen the community and enable members to collectively address issues affecting them.
Pius Mwaka, the Ethanga community chairman, said the initiative had given the community renewed hope, particularly through efforts to ensure children from disadvantaged families have access to education.
Mwaka said the community would continue exploring ways of supporting vulnerable families and helping children pursue their education despite the economic challenges facing many households.
The leaders called on Ethanga members living in different parts of Kenya to maintain close links, support community initiatives and work together to improve the welfare of their people.
