Residents of Mathima town and surrounding areas are enjoying more reliable access to water following the expansion of the Mutomo – Mathima – Kiati Water Project, an extension of the expansive Kangu Kangu Water Project.
The project that was commissioned by Governor Julius Malombe draws its water from the Kangu Kangu system, one of the most reliable water sources serving communities in Kitui South and which feeds Mathima Market in Mutha Ward.
The water extension has strengthened water supply to households, businesses and other users within Mathima market and its environs, easing the challenges residents have faced in accessing the essential commodity.
The development is part of Governor Julius Malombe’s wider efforts to make Kitui a water-secure County by investing in sustainable water infrastructure across the County’s 40 wards.
The Governor has reiterated his commitment to rolling out projects that directly improve the lives of residents and strengthen the county’s resilience to water shortages.
