Kitui Central MP hopeful Boniface Mutisya Musambi has announced the replacement of all faulty transformers in the constituency, alongside plans to install new ones in areas yet to be connected to the national electricity grid.
The announcement follows talks between the UDA team and Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) officials to address electricity challenges facing residents.
In a notice, Musambi said the exercise had already kicked off this week, adding that the team had collected data on faulty transformers to guide the replacement process.
“We are currently replacing ALL faulty transformers in Kitui Central Constituency. We have all the data with us, and the exercise kicked off this week,” he stated.
The initiative is expected to improve electricity reliability and expand access to power for households and businesses in underserved areas, although the timeline for connecting all unreached areas has not been specified.
