President William Ruto has inspected the construction of the KSh670 million Enziu Bridge in Mwingi Central Constituency, Kitui County, as the project nears completion.
The bridge connects Mwingi Central and Mwingi East, providing a permanent and safer crossing at a spot that has claimed hundreds of lives over the years, particularly during heavy rains and flooding. Once completed, the bridge is expected to end the recurring danger faced by residents whenever the Enziu River swells.
The project will ensure reliable year-round access to schools, hospitals and markets while improving transport, strengthening trade and boosting economic activities across the region.
President Ruto was accompanied by Kitui South MP Dr Racheal Kaki Nyamai and other UDA leaders during the inspection, underscoring the government’s focus on infrastructure development and improved connectivity in Kitui County.
