Growing Rift Within Kitui UDA Raises Concern Ahead of 2027 – A growing sense of discomfort and internal disagreements within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) camp in Kitui is raising concern among supporters, with calls for the party’s leadership and grassroots teams to close ranks ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The emerging divisions have reportedly triggered disagreements and confrontations among members of the Kitui UDA family, creating concerns that continued infighting could weaken the party’s ability to mobilise support for President William Ruto in the county.
There are also allegations within political circles that a senior government official could be behind the internal wrangles, although the claims remain unsubstantiated and have not been independently verified.
Political observers and UDA supporters argue that the party needs to resolve its differences internally and establish a united political strategy if President Ruto is to significantly improve his performance in Kitui.

For UDA to make meaningful gains in Kitui, members of the party are being urged to put aside personal and factional differences and speak with one voice on matters affecting the party and the President’s 2027 re-election bid.
The challenge now lies in whether the Kitui UDA team can overcome its internal disagreements, build trust among its competing camps and present a united front to voters ahead of the next General Election.
