The Wiper Patriotic Front has firmly rejected speculation that its party leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, could enter into a political working arrangement with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement dated September 28, 2026, Wiper spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru said the party has “no dealings, no understanding, and no intention” of working with Ruto. The party said its political path under Kalonzo remains independent and that the two leaders will meet politically at the ballot on August 10, 2027. The statement was also reported by People Daily and The Eastleigh Voice.
Wiper also addressed the Kibwezi–Mutomo–Kitui–Mwingi–Tseikuru–Maua road, saying its demand for completion of the corridor should not be interpreted as seeking political favours from the government. According to the party, the road is a public project funded through taxpayers’ money and should be completed regardless of political affiliations.
The road has previously featured in an exchange between Kalonzo and Ruto over who initiated and oversaw its development. Kalonzo has said he facilitated its construction while serving as Vice President, while Ruto has disputed that account, saying the project was implemented under the Jubilee administration.
Wiper’s message is therefore clear: it says development demands should be separated from political cooperation, while maintaining its opposition position ahead of the 2027 election.
