The battle for the Wiper Patriotic front party nomination ticket in Kitui Central is gathering momentum, with five political heavyweights reportedly positioning themselves for what promises to be a fiercely contested parliamentary showdown ahead of the 2027 General Election. Those in the race include Deputy Speaker Christopher Nzilu Nzioka, businessman Young Litto, former Chief of Staff Chris Ireli, former Senatorial aspirant Hon. Stephen Kilonzo and Chief Officer for Basic Education Pauline Mwania.
The emerging contest is expected to test the political influence, grassroots networks and mobilisation abilities of the aspirants as each seeks to convince Wiper delegates and supporters that they are best placed to carry the party’s flag. With Kitui Central remaining a politically strategic constituency, the nomination battle could prove just as consequential as the general election itself.
Meanwhile, political whispers suggest that aspirants from rival political parties are quietly calculating their next moves, with allegations of possible attempts to influence the Wiper nomination process in favour of a weaker candidate. These claims remain unverified, but they have already added another layer of intrigue to an increasingly competitive race.
For the Wiper faithful, the biggest concern will be securing a credible, competitive and popular candidate capable of defending the party’s political influence in Kitui Central. A controversial or poorly managed nomination could create divisions, trigger defections and potentially hand rival parties an unexpected advantage.
As political camps strengthen their networks and supporters wait for the next move, a game of political hide-and-seek appears to be unfolding in Kitui Central. Who will emerge with the coveted Wiper ticket? Will it be Nzilu, Young Litto, Ireli, Kilonzo or Mwania? The nomination battle is on, and the biggest question remains: who has the political muscle to carry the Wiper flag into 2027?
