KITUI HEALTH CECM WINS HEALTHCARE EXCELLENCE AWARD AT TAJI AWARDS AFRICA

Kitui County Health and Sanitation CECM Ruth Koki has won the Healthcare Excellence Award at the Taji Awards Africa, in recognition of her leadership and contribution to improving healthcare services in the county.

The award, presented on Saturday, October 31, 2026, recognises efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to essential medical services for residents. Koki’s recognition comes as the county government continues to implement Governor Dr. Julius

Malombe’s Kitui Promise through investments in the health sector.

Under her leadership at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, the county continues to focus on improving health infrastructure, specialised medical care, equipment, essential medicines, maternity services and community health programmes aimed at bringing services closer to the people.

The award ceremony attracted several prominent leaders from across the Ukambani region, including Nominated Senators Tabitha Mutinda and Beth Syengo, former Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, OGW, and Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, alongside other distinguished guests and nominees.

Koki’s recognition adds to the county’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services and improve the wellbeing of its residents. The award also places a spotlight on the role of county health leadership in translating development commitments into accessible and quality medical care for the people of Kitui.
