Kitui Moves to Replace Faulty Solar Street Lights With Modern Security Systems

The County Government of Kitui has announced plans to replace faulty solar street lights with new integrated security lighting systems in a move aimed at improving security and supporting businesses across the county.

The announcement was made by Chief Officer for Energy and Mineral Resources Henry Nyamai, who appeared before a joint sitting of the County Assembly Committees on Appointments, Liaison, and Environment, Energy and Minerals Investments at Zombe Huduma Centre on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Nyamai assured Zombe residents that the replacement programme would help restore lighting in affected shopping centres, boost security and create a safer environment for traders, customers and other residents, particularly during evening hours.
