Residents of Mwingi West Sub-County have received a major boost in healthcare services following the commissioning of a renovated and fully equipped main theatre at Migwani Level IV Hospital by Julius Malombe. The project marks a significant milestone in the county government’s efforts to enhance medical infrastructure and service delivery.
Speaking during the event held in Migwani, the Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare for all residents across Kitui County. He noted that the upgraded theatre will greatly enhance surgical services at the facility.
The newly renovated theatre is equipped with modern medical technology designed to support a wide range of surgical procedures. According to the county leadership, the facility is expected to reduce referrals to distant hospitals and ease the burden on patients and their families.
In addition to the theatre, the Governor also unveiled a modern kitchen at the hospital. The new kitchen is aimed at improving patient care through better nutrition and food safety standards within the facility.
Healthcare workers at Migwani Level IV Hospital expressed optimism that the improved infrastructure will enhance efficiency and service delivery. They highlighted that the upgraded facilities will create a better working environment and improve patient outcomes.
Area MCA Harrison Maluki lauded the Governor for prioritizing healthcare development in the region. He stated that the project demonstrates the county government’s dedication to addressing the needs of local communities.
Mwingi Town MCA Bernard Sila also praised the initiative, noting that improved healthcare services will have a direct positive impact on residents. He urged continued investment in other sectors to complement the progress made in health.
County Executive Committee Members Peter Gitonga, Richard Mwendandu and Reuben Itiko attended the commissioning ceremony, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to development projects across the county.
Also present were Chief Officers Lynn Kitwan, Nathan Vungo and Michael Kalii, who play key roles in implementing county projects in various departments.
The commissioning of the theatre and kitchen at Migwani Level IV Hospital is part of a broader strategy by the county government to strengthen healthcare systems. Residents expressed gratitude, noting that the developments will significantly improve access to quality medical services in Mwingi West and surrounding areas.
