Mark Nding’o has said that any unpopular government will always feel uneasy whenever influential national figures such as Uhuru Kenyatta speak out on matters affecting the country. The Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the Kitui County Assembly noted that leaders should embrace criticism and public debate instead of appearing threatened by opposing voices.
Speaking on Sunday evening during the popular political talk show Ikumbi ya Siasa aired on Mutongoi TV, Hon. Mark Nding’o argued that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta still commands respect and influence across the country due to his leadership experience and political stature. He maintained that democratic societies thrive when former leaders are allowed to freely express their views on governance and national unity.
The MCA, who is also a governance expert, further urged leaders to focus on addressing the concerns of wananchi rather than engaging in political hostility. According to Hon. Nding’o, strong institutions, accountability, and tolerance of divergent opinions remain key pillars in strengthening Kenya’s democracy and promoting national cohesion.
