Kitui County Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzilu, who also serves as the Member of County Assembly for Kyangwithya West Ward, has moved to consolidate his political base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nzilu, popularly known as “Kamwana Ka Wia,” is positioning himself for the Wiper Democratic Movement party ticket in the forthcoming parliamentary race for Kitui Central Constituency, where Kyangwithya West is considered a key voting bloc and his political stronghold.
The Deputy Speaker is expected to face off with Hon. Kitundumo and Pauline Mwania in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive party primary under the Wiper banner.
In a show of political strength, Nzilu last week hosted a massive gathering at his home in Kyangwithya West, drawing more than 6,000 supporters. The event, attended by local leaders and residents, sent a clear message to his rivals that he remains a formidable force on the ground.
Observers say the turnout not only reaffirmed Nzilu’s influence in the ward but also signaled early momentum as aspirants begin to lay groundwork for the 2027 contest.
With internal party contests expected to be decisive, the battle for the Wiper ticket is already heating up, setting the stage for a high-stakes political showdown in Kitui Central.
