If Kiema Kilonzo secures the Wiper Party ticket in Kitui East, then the political equation changes completely.
For years, many leaders have walked into elections believing Kitui East is theirs for the taking, only to discover that the ground has its own owners. Kiema Kilonzo is steadily emerging as one of the most formidable political forces in the constituency — a man with networks, experience, grassroots understanding, and the political stamina required for a bruising contest.
Unlike ordinary politicians like kitute and Nimrod Mbai, Kiema understands the terrain of Kitui East politics. He knows the villages, the clans, the voting patterns, and most importantly, the language of political survival. That alone makes him a formidable opponent worthy the sweat.
Nimrod Mbai may attempt his usual political tricks, intimidation, musenze beer and mobilization tactics, but this race would not be business as usual. Kiema is equally seasoned in the rough and tumble of politics and has mastered the art of strategic political combat. In many ways, this would become a contest between two experienced political heavyweights battling for dominance in Kitui East.
What makes Kiema even more acceptable is the perception growing among the youth and grassroots voters that he represents fresh energy combined with political experience. That combination can easily disrupt established political calculations.
If the Wiper Party eventually hands Kiema the ticket, then Kitui East should prepare for one of the most intense and unpredictable parliamentary battles in recent history. And Kiema might just be declared the winner before Nimrod’s goons say “kusaasa”!
