Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani on Saturday officially flagged off the Ulonzo Hills hiking expedition organized by Kitui Hikers Club in partnership with Nairobi-based Mountain Adventures, as the county continues to market its growing tourism circuit.
The event, which brought together hiking enthusiasts and adventure lovers, forms part of a personal development and outdoor experience initiative aimed at promoting eco-tourism and showcasing Kitui County’s natural attractions. Kanani, who also serves as the County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to positioning Kitui as a leading destination for local and international tourism.
Also present during the flag-off ceremony was Chief Officer for Tourism, Hospitality and Game Reserves Fedinard Kathenge. The hike marks another milestone in the county’s tourism agenda following the launch of the Kitui Tourism Circuit by Governor Julius Malombe last year, a program aimed at unlocking the economic potential of tourism and adventure activities across the county.
