Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has called for urgent action to restore security in Mwingi North following the killing of a local herder by armed camel herders in Tseikuru Ward.

Speaking at Kwa Kamari on Tuesday, Senator Wambua said the lives and safety of Kitui residents must take precedence, insisting that no resident should be forced to abandon their home due to insecurity. The senator was addressing residents alongside security officials after the brutal murder of Masika Mutemi, who was reportedly attacked while grazing his cattle at Itimba Ithei.

Wambua said residents of Itimba Ithei, Kaningo, Kwa Kamari and other affected areas have a right to live and work without fear. He emphasized that the protection of lives and propertyremains a fundamental responsibility of the government and security agencies.

The senator further challenged National Police Reservists (NPR) operating in Mwingi North to demonstrate their effectiveness in safeguarding communities against banditry and violent attacks. According to him, local residents unanimously demanded stronger security measures and lasting solutions to recurring conflicts involving armed herders.

Also present during the meeting was Mwingi North MP, Hon. Eng. Paul Nzengu, who joined residents and local leaders in calling for enhanced security operations. The leaders pledged to continue pushing for decisive action to ensure peace and stability in the region.
