Yatta/Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o on Thursday afternoon presided over the site handover for the installation of integrated solar street lighting projects at Nzeveni (Katuneni), Mwakini, and Kanyonyoo trading centres.
The project, which is aimed at enhancing security, improving business activities, and promoting socio-economic development, was officially handed over to the contractor in the presence of local residents and community leaders. During the exercise, Hon. Nding’o engaged residents on key development priorities and assured them of his commitment to delivering transformative projects across the ward.
Speaking during the handover, the MCA noted that the installation of solar-powered street lights will boost safety for traders and residents, extend business operating hours, and improve the overall appearance of the trading centres. He emphasized that the project forms part of his broader agenda to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth in Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward.
Residents welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the street lighting project will help curb insecurity and create a more conducive environment for businesses and community activities. The MCA reaffirmed his dedication to working closely with wananchi to ensure equitable development reaches every corner of the ward.
