The Government intensified its grassroots engagement drive in Kitui County on Saturday as Commissioner Jerusah Muathime joined Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke and Mwingi West Member of Parliament Charles Nguna during the Jamii Imara Mashinani citizen engagement forum.
The leaders met residents in Mwingi West Constituency in a forum aimed at strengthening communication between the Government and local communities while providing updates on key development initiatives being implemented in the region. The Jamii Imara Mashinani program seeks to bring government services and leadership closer to wananchi through direct engagement.
Addressing residents during the event, PS Jonathan Mueke emphasized the importance of citizen participation in shaping development priorities and ensuring that government interventions respond to the real needs of communities. He noted that engaging wananchi at the grassroots level remains essential in achieving inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Commissioner Jerusal Muathime underscored the significance of the Jamii Imara platform, describing it as a critical avenue for listening to residents and ensuring that no community is left behind in the country’s development agenda. He said the government remains committed to responsive leadership and service delivery that reflects the aspirations of citizens.
The leaders highlighted several ongoing and planned development projects aimed at transforming livelihoods across Kitui County. Among the flagship projects discussed was the KSh4.3 billion Kwasiku–Bondoni Road, which is expected to improve transport connectivity and stimulate economic activities within the county and neighboring regions.
Residents were also briefed on the progress of affordable housing initiatives, the Thokoa Water Pan project and continued government investments in healthcare, education, water supply, electricity and road infrastructure. The projects are expected to enhance access to basic services and improve living standards for communities across the region.
The forum was also attended by PS Mary Muthoni Muriuki, CBS, Members of County Assembly and other government leaders who reiterated their commitment to delivering on the government’s development agenda. The leaders assured residents that sustained engagement and inclusive planning would remain central to ensuring meaningful and equitable development across Kitui County under the #DeliveringThePlan initiative.
