COMMISSIONER MUASYA SLAMS KITUI WEST MP EDITH NYENZE OVER FINANCE BILL VOTE

Commissioner of Revenue Allocation Benedict Muasya has criticized Kitui West Member of Parliament Edith Nyenze for voting against the Finance Bill 2026 while at the same time seeking government support for the completion of stalled development projects in the constituency.

Muasya termed the move hypocritical, arguing that government projects depend on funds raised through the national budget and revenue measures outlined in the Finance Bill.

He said it was contradictory for leaders to oppose measures aimed at raising government revenue and later demand the implementation of projects that require the same resources.

โ€œThe government raises money through the Finance Bill, and it is hypocritical to demand projects while opposing the budget mechanisms that provide funding,โ€ Muasya said.

The Commissioner further urged lawmakers to be truthful when addressing the public and avoid what he termed political rhetoric while leading their constituents.

Muasya made the remarks during a church service in Kitui West, where he also revealed that he had initiated efforts to push for the completion of stalled projects in the constituency for the benefit of local residents.

He emphasized that development should remain a priority regardless of political differences, noting that residents deserve improved services and the completion of pending projects.
