President Ruto Saved Me From Impeachment Twice, Says Kitui Speaker Kevin Kinengo

Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya has claimed that President William Ruto played a crucial role in saving him from two impeachment attempts allegedly orchestrated by a section of Wiper Party MCAs.

Speaking during the ongoing empowerment forums across Kitui County, Kinengo said he survived the political onslaught after what he described as timely intervention that enabled him to retain his position as Speaker.

The Speaker alleged that some Members of the County Assembly affiliated with the Wiper Party plotted on two separate occasions to remove him from office, but their efforts failed.

Kinengo said the experience strengthened his resolve to continue serving the people of Kitui and pledged to remain focused on promoting development and unity across the county.

His remarks come at a time when he is positioning himself for the Kitui Senate seat in the 2027 General Election, joining a growing list of leaders seeking elective positions ahead of the polls.

The ongoing empowerment forums have brought together national and local leaders, with speakers using the platform to rally support for development initiatives and discuss the county’s political future.

Kinengo’s revelations are expected to fuel political debate in Kitui as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, particularly amid the rivalry between leaders aligned with the Kenya Kwanza administration and those affiliated with the Wiper Democratic Movement.
