Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha and the entire Nyandarua County Assembly leadership have officially joined the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), describing the move as a significant boost to the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking after receiving the delegation, Gachagua said the governor and county leaders had committed to defending their elective seats on DCP party tickets and would participate in the party’s nominations next year.
He assured the new members that the party would conduct free, fair, and transparent primaries to give all aspirants an equal opportunity to secure the party ticket.
According to Gachagua, the Nyandarua delegation conveyed a message of goodwill from the people of the county, saying they were responding to what he described as the “call for the liberation of Kenya.”
“The people of Nyandarua County, led by their Governor, have brought a message of goodwill from the people of Nyandarua County. They are answering the call for the liberation of Kenya. To them, the future is green,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President added that the DCP leadership and the Nyandarua team share a common vision for the country’s future, expressing confidence that their efforts would contribute to shaping Kenya’s political direction.
Gachagua also claimed that more leaders continue to leave other political parties, particularly the United Democratic Alliance, to join DCP, describing the trend as a growing movement ahead of the next general election.
