KITUI – A new Mizani Africa opinion poll has placed Kitui Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu ahead in the early race for the Kitui gubernatorial seat, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest among four of the county’s leading political figures.

The survey highlights the unique political strengths of each contender. Dr. Kasalu enjoys broad countywide visibility through her role as Woman Representative, Dr. Makali Mulu draws support from his long-standing parliamentary leadership, Charity Ngilu remains influential due to her experience as a former governor, while Senator Enoch Wambua leverages his countywide profile and legislative record.

With 6.0% of respondents still undecided, the race remains open and could shift as campaigns intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The poll nevertheless indicates that Dr. Irene Kasalu has established the strongest early momentum, positioning her as the frontrunner in the contest. Political analysts note that the coming months will determine whether she can maintain and expand her lead as the other contenders step up their campaigns across the county.
