Addressing residents of Kivou Ward in Mwingi Central, Commissioner Ben Muasya urged the community to embrace President William Ruto’s call for a national conversation on Vision 2060, emphasizing that Kenya’s future must be shaped through deliberate planning, inclusive dialogue, and active citizen participation.
He noted that, like any nation aspiring to attain first-world status, Kenya must continuously develop long-term strategies that guide sustainable growth, improve livelihoods, and enhance global competitiveness. As the country implements the final five-year Medium-Term Plan under Vision 2030, Muasya said the time has come to begin crafting the next national development blueprint.
According to the Commissioner, the process should be anchored on a comprehensive evaluation of Vision 2030, whose Economic, Social, and Political pillars have guided Kenya’s development agenda over the past two decades. Lessons learned, he said, should inform a more ambitious and inclusive Vision 2060.
Commissioner Muasya challenged the people of Mwingi to play an active role in shaping the country’s future rather than remaining spectators. He urged residents to articulate their aspirations and priorities so that the region’s interests are reflected in Kenya’s next long-term development plan.
“If we do not participate in shaping the next 30 years of our country, how will Mwingi secure its rightful place in Kenya’s future?” he posed.
He further observed that regions which actively influence national conversations today are often the ones that benefit most from tomorrow’s national priorities. Mwingi, he said, needs leaders who can engage at the highest levels of national decision-making, champion the region’s development agenda, and ensure its voice is heard as Kenya charts its course beyond Vision 2030.
“The future does not belong to those who wait for it,” Muasya said. “It belongs to those bold enough to imagine it, plan for it, and build it.”
He concluded by urging residents to seize the opportunity to contribute to the Vision 2060 conversation, stressing that Mwingi must not be left behind as Kenya shapes its next chapter of national development.
