In a strong appeal to the Kamba community, Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo has echoed sentiments shared by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, urging the region to align itself with the government led by President William Ruto. Speaking during a public event, Kiema emphasized the importance of being part of the government to secure development projects and meaningful representation.
Addressing residents at Mulanga Vocational Centre, CS Mutua highlighted the need for the Kamba community to engage with the current administration, stating that President Ruto, as the head of state, has the power to support and deliver development to the region. Mutua stressed that political inclusivity was the pathway to realizing stalled projects and uplifting the community’s economic prospects.
Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo echoed these views, arguing that the Kamba region could only secure its share of the national cake by being part of the decision-making process. He pointed out that key infrastructure projects, such as the stalled Kwa Siku-Mbondoni Road, could only be completed through lobbying by leaders actively involved in government.
“The Nyanza region has several Cabinet Secretaries, and Mount Kenya has the same, despite being perceived as opposition strongholds. They have secured their share because their leaders are in government,” Kiema said. “The Kamba community must think beyond pride in opposition politics and focus on securing our future.”
He further cautioned against waiting for an opposition-led government that might not materialize, urging the community to embrace the current administration and work towards development goals.
The call for unity and collaboration comes as leaders from various regions seek to ensure their communities benefit from government initiatives. Kiema and CS Mutua’s appeal underscores a broader message of political inclusivity and the strategic benefits of aligning with the government of the day.
