Kitui South, June 4, 2024 — Charlene Ruto, the first daughter, continued her Zero Barefoot Campaign on its second day by distributing leather shoes to primary school children in Ikutha Sub County. The event took place at Kyoani Primary School, where she was joined by the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development, Peninah Malonza.
The initiative aims to provide footwear to children in need, promoting better health and enhancing educational experiences. During the distribution exercise, Ruto and Malonza were warmly welcomed by enthusiastic children, supportive teachers, and grateful parents.
The Zero Barefoot Campaign underscores the commitment of both leaders to improving the lives of young students in rural areas. The distribution of shoes not only addresses immediate needs but also signifies a step towards greater community support and development.
Charlene Ruto’s campaign is expected to continue reaching out to more schools in the region, furthering the cause of ensuring no child has to attend school barefoot. The positive reception in Ikutha Sub County highlights the community’s appreciation for such impactful initiatives.
