Correction and Apology
In our edition of August 15, 2024, the *Daily Nation* mistakenly reported that the Mung Beans Bill, 2022, would require farmers who cultivate mung beans (Ndengu) to obtain a license or face penalties of up to Sh1 million in fines, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
We wish to correct this error: the Bill only requires marketers, processors, and large-scale traders of the crop to obtain a license. Farmers will only need to register with the relevant county agency and will not be subject to the licensing requirement.
We apologize to the promoter of the Bill, Senator Enoch Wambua, and to the Senate for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.
