NCBA, Kenya’s third-largest bank, has expanded its footprint with the opening of its first branch in Kitui County, a development welcomed by local leadership as a catalyst for economic growth in the region. The official launch was attended by Kitui County Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani and Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, who highlighted the potential impact of this new branch on the local economy.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Kanani noted the increasing need for financial services in Kitui, fueled by diverse income-generating activities such as online businesses, carbon credit initiatives, and a broadening digital economy. “People are innovating in ways to generate income, and it is essential for banks to adapt accordingly,” Kanani stated, welcoming the NCBA’s proactive response to the changing economic landscape.
Governor Malombe emphasized the importance of making banking services accessible and affordable for Kitui residents. He urged NCBA and other banks to prioritize customer-friendly credit and savings solutions, which he said are essential to empower local entrepreneurs and communities. He also assured investors of the county’s dedication to providing a secure, business-friendly environment aimed at attracting further investment and creating job opportunities for the county’s youth.
The new NCBA branch is expected to contribute to financial inclusion in Kitui by providing easier access to banking services, such as loans, savings accounts, and other financial tools essential for both personal and business growth. Residents, entrepreneurs, and small business owners will have greater opportunities to leverage these services, supporting Kitui’s vision of a vibrant and resilient economy.
The opening of the NCBA branch marks a step forward in Kitui’s commitment to fostering a progressive business environment that promotes growth, employment, and prosperity for its people.
