In a dramatic turn of events, Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, the patron of the Anzauni National clan and leader of the newly launched National Liberal Party (NLP), has announced his intention to seek legal redress following the Azimio coalition’s decision to replace his name with that of Dr. Koki Muli for a key electoral position.
Dr. Kyalo Muli had secured a victory to represent the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC) at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Panel. He won decisively, garnering 17 votes against Wiper Candidate Dr. Koki Muli’s 6 votes. Despite being declared the winner by the IEBC, the Azimio coalition struck his name and forwarded Dr. Koki Muli instead.
Speaking to the press, Dr. Muli expressed his determination to challenge this decision in court. “We will not retreat. We are going to push this to the very end. It’s time we change this country. We are calling Azimio leaders to task,” he stated emphatically.
Dr. Muli’s move has sparked a wave of reactions across Kenya, with many citizens expressing support for his stance against what they see as an unjust overturning of a legitimate electoral process. “The people of Kenya are saying no to overturning a justified electoral process,” Dr. Muli declared, highlighting the widespread dissatisfaction among Kenyans regarding the incident.
The National Liberal Party (NLP), launched by Dr. Muli in Kitui, aims to be a beacon of change and accountability in Kenyan politics. As the legal battle looms, all eyes are on the courts to see how this high-stakes political showdown unfolds.
