In a move to improve safety and accessibility, the Ministry of Urban Development, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, has successfully installed high-quality streetlights along the BLI to SEKU road.
This initiative has been widely praised by students and local residents who regularly use the road. The installation of these streetlights follows a courtesy call earlier this year by SEKU officials to Governor Malombe, during which they requested enhanced street lighting for the area. True to his promise, Governor Malombe has delivered, significantly improving safety for students and other road users.“This project is a game-changer for us,” said a SEKU student. “We now feel much safer walking along this road, especially during the evening hours, This project is a game changer to us as we can now study for longer hours without the previous fear of security concerns while walking home.
A senior officer in the Ministry of Urban Development also announced plans to upgrade the road to bitumen standards, complete with cabro walkways, in the next financial year. This development is expected to further enhance the road’s usability and safety, ensuring a more secure and pleasant environment for everyone.
The community has warmly welcomed these improvements, which mark a substantial step forward in urban development and public safety. The new streetlights not only provide better visibility but also contribute to a greater sense of security, fostering a more vibrant and active community atmosphere.
Governor Malombe’s commitment to fulfilling his promises has garnered widespread appreciation, reflecting a strong dedication to enhancing the quality of life for the residents and students of SEKU.////__
