Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) convened a crucial meeting today with Sub-County, Ward, and Village Administrators to discuss the upcoming public participation phase for the Community Level Infrastructure Development Programme (CLIDP).
The briefing, held at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) in Kitui town, focused on planning for the FY 2024/2025 and addressing key challenges in project implementation.
The governor outlined the public participation schedule, set to begin next Monday with village barazas, followed by ward-level validation forums at respective ward headquarters on Tuesday. These forums aim to identify and prioritize beneficiaries for the Pro-poor Support Program and select appropriate sand dam sites for development.
In his address, Governor Malombe emphasized that the CLIDP, launched in FY 2013/2014, remains a flagship initiative of the County Government, targeting equitable development, poverty alleviation, and improved livelihoods for Kitui residents.
The program plays a pivotal role in sectors such as water, agriculture, health, roads, energy, and education, contributing significantly to “The Kitui Promise” — the county’s transformative development agenda.
The meeting also served as a platform to discuss the challenges faced in implementing CLIDP projects and explore strategies to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in delivering community-level infrastructure.
The county’s approach aims to ensure that residents’ voices are heard and that projects selected reflect the genuine needs of the local communities, promoting sustainable and inclusive development throughout Kitui County.
