Kisasi Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) and leader of the Communist Party of Kenya, Hon. Nicholas Mutemi, has urged the Kitui County government to establish a fully equipped secured digital imaging center at the Kitui County Referral Hospital.
Speaking to the TCD editor, Hon. Mutemi emphasized that the fully digitalized facility would play a crucial role in addressing comprehensive medical needs while also boosting the county’s health sector revenue streams and security
According to Hon. Mutemi, the imaging center would provide critical diagnostic services, filling a significant gap in the medical services currently offered at the referral hospital. “This facility, once operational, will not only cater to the medical needs of Kitui residents but also attract patients from neighboring counties, leading to increased revenue for our health sector,” he stated.
The proposed facility would be equipped with state-of-the-art digital imaging technologies, including MRI and CT scanners, and advanced diagnostic tools that are currently unavailable in the region. Mutemi noted that this would reduce the need for patients to travel to other counties or even Nairobi for such services, saving time and costs for local residents.
Hon. Mutemi, who is known for his advocacy for better healthcare services, is one of the MCAs working closely with Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe to improve the county’s healthcare infrastructure. The MCA reiterated the importance of investing in health as a key pillar in the county’s development agenda.
The initiative is expected to align with Governor Malombe’s broader vision of transforming Kitui County into a health hub for the region, with the goal of providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare to all residents.
As the proposal gains momentum, the MCA called on both county and national governments to collaborate in making the project a reality, ensuring that the residents of Kitui and the surrounding areas can benefit from the facility.
The healthcare sector in Kitui has seen several improvements in recent years, and the establishment of this digitally secured imaging center would mark another milestone in the county’s commitment to providing better health services.
