Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has called for the censure of President William Ruto, accusing him of failing to unite the country. Speaking during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) at the Multipurpose Hall in Kitui, Mulu criticized Ruto’s leadership, stating that the country is more divided than ever under his administration.
The Wiper Party MP, however, dismissed recent calls for the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, labeling it as a non-priority amidst the pressing issues facing the nation. “The focus should not be on impeaching the Deputy President but on ensuring the President delivers on his promises to the people and unites the country,” Mulu remarked.
The event, hosted by Kitui KNUT General Secretary Mr. Simon Ndingo, was attended by top union officials, including KNUT National Secretary General Mr. Collins Oyuu. Former Kitui Governor Hon. Charity Ngilu was also present at the meeting, adding her voice to the growing concerns about the state of the nation.
Ngilu urged President Ruto to take swift action to save the country from what she described as a path toward collapse. “The President must act now to address the economic challenges and restore hope to the millions of Kenyans struggling to make ends meet,” she said.
The meeting focused on the state of education in the country, with union leaders calling for better pay and working conditions for teachers, amid rising concerns about the cost of living.
