The consultative workshop for the Kitui County Budget Economic Forum (CBEF) concluded in Mombasa after intensive brainstorming sessions led by facilitators from the Kenya School of Government and the Institute of Public Finance.
The Forum, comprised of Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, Deputy Governor, County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), and CBEF Non-State actors as per legal regulations, was convened to discuss the fiscal state of the county and outline economic strategies for the future.
In his keynote address on Wednesday, Governor Malombe underscored the importance of the Forum in shaping the county’s economic outlook. “The purpose of the Forum is to provide a means for consultation by the county government on the preparation of county plans, the County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP), and the Budget Review and Outlook Paper. It also allows for discussions on matters related to budgeting, the economy, and financial management at the county level,” said the Governor.
He further highlighted his administration’s commitment to fostering collaboration with the National Government and creating an enabling environment for investors. Governor Malombe emphasized the importance of partnerships and noted that his government would avoid direct competition with local citizens in business activities, focusing instead on creating opportunities for all.
The workshop marked a critical milestone in the county’s efforts to streamline its fiscal policies and strengthen economic governance.
